Compassionate Communication is a way
to focus our attention, a lens to view the world.
“We cannot change the world until we create within ourselves
the kind of world we want to live in.” Marshall B. Rosenberg
Compassionate Communication, also known as Nonviolent Communication® is a set of principles and practices developed by American Psychologist, Dr. Marshall B. Rosenberg, that help us form mutually beneficial relationships and systems that align action with values that can more likely result in trust, autonomy, and care for all.
“A Way to Focus Attention: NVC is founded on language and communication skills that strengthen our ability to remain human, even under trying conditions. It contains nothing new; all that has been integrated into NVC has been known for centuries. The intent is to remind us about what we already know—about how we humans were meant to relate to one another—and to assist us in living in a way that concretely manifests this knowledge.” ~Marshall Rosenberg, from his book, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life®
“Every moment each human being is doing the best we know at that moment to meet our needs. We never do anything that is not in the service of a need, there is no conflict on our planet at the level of needs. We all have the same needs. The problem is in strategies for meeting the needs.”
Marshall Rosenberg
“Marshall Rosenberg provides us with the most effective tools to foster health and relationships. Nonviolent Communication connects soul to soul, creating a lot of healing. It is the missing element in what we do.” ~ Deepak Chopra
